CHAMPAGNE WIRE HOODS (MUSELETS)

The Ritual Begins Before the Cork is Released

The champagne wire hood (muselet) may seem like a small detail, yet it plays an important part in the opening ritual. The capsule is removed, the wire is gently untwisted, and the moment the cork will be released draws closer. This is where anticipation begins.

Used for Champagne and sparkling wines as well as beer and cider packaging, the muselet keeps the cork securely in place while completing the bottle design. Different colours, finishes and design options allow it to be tailored to the brand’s visual identity.

The metal top disc (plaque) adds another dimension to this small component. Personalised with a logo, original graphics or special-edition designs, plaques have become collectible objects within Champagne culture. For some brands, this small surface becomes a distinctive space for carrying the brand story through to the finest detail of the bottle.

In this way, the muselet performs its technical function while becoming a brand-specific detail that contributes to both the character of the packaging and the opening experience.
